Spray Foam Insulation in Mesa

Insulation for Mesa homes and commercial buildings, from a family-owned crew based in Chandler.

Mesa, Arizona homes with the Superstition Mountains behind

Walk almost any older Mesa street and you will see the same building recipe: a single-story ranch, masonry block walls, a low-pitched or flat roof, and an AC unit working hard on the roof or beside the house. A lot of Mesa grew up in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, and those homes were built for a different era of energy prices. They are solid houses. They just tend to leak heat in the places that matter most.

From our base in Chandler, Mesa is a short drive, and it is one of the cities where we do the widest mix of work.

Block walls hold the heat, the roof lets it in

Concrete block is sturdy and it does not burn, but it is a thermal sponge. It soaks up afternoon sun and releases it into the house well into the evening. On a block home, though, the roof is usually the bigger problem. It faces the sun all day, and on a low-slope roof there is often only a thin cavity between the hot deck and your ceiling.

That is why we usually start a Mesa assessment overhead rather than at the walls. Fixing the roof assembly tends to give the most comfort per dollar.

Pitched-roof ranch homes

Not every Mesa ranch is flat on top. Many have a shallow attic over the ceiling with original or second-hand insulation lying in it. It is common to find thin or bare spots around the edges where the roof gets tight, plus compressed areas along old service paths.

For a home like that, two routes make sense:

  • Top it up. Blown-in insulation on the attic floor is fast and affordable, and it fills awkward corners well.
  • Move the boundary. Open cell spray foam under the roof deck seals the attic and brings any ductwork up there into conditioned space.

We will lay out both on paper so you can compare.

Who supplies your power in Mesa

Most of Mesa buys electricity from Salt River Project. The exception is the downtown core and the historic districts around it, where the City of Mesa runs its own electric utility. Whichever logo is on your bill, summer is when Mesa homes use the most power, and that is the load good insulation is meant to reduce.

02 / Questions

Questions we hear often

Q.01Is it worth insulating a block home's walls?

Sometimes, but on most Mesa ranch homes the roof is the larger heat source and the easier place to make a difference. We look at both and tell you where the money goes furthest.

Q.02Does it matter if I am on City of Mesa electric instead of SRP?

Not for the insulation itself. The work is the same and so is the goal: less heat getting into the house. Rates and any efficiency offers differ by provider, so it is worth checking with yours.
