Solid Foam Solutions is based in Chandler. Our Arizona work runs out of here for now, while the business relocates to Phoenix, which means Chandler homes and buildings are about as close to the shop as it gets. Short drives make for easier scheduling, quicker follow-up visits, and less time burned in traffic that you would otherwise be paying for indirectly.
The business started in Nebraska in 2020 and still works there. Arizona is a very different climate to insulate for, and Chandler is our Arizona home base.
What Chandler houses tend to need
Much of Chandler was built out from the late 1980s through the 2000s, a lot of it in planned neighborhoods. You see plenty of single-story and two-story stucco homes with tile roofs, a vented attic, and the air handler and ducts up in that attic. The older core of the city around downtown has its own, earlier mix of homes.
In the planned-community houses, the pattern we find is predictable: decent insulation when new, now settled and thinned, with ducts baking in an attic that runs well past outdoor temperature on summer afternoons. Bedrooms at the far end of a duct run lag behind the rest of the house.
Spray foam insulation at the roof deck is often the most complete fix, because it changes where the heat stops. Instead of fighting a hot attic, you keep the attic from getting that hot in the first place. Open cell is usually what we use on homes; we explain the choice on the assessment.
Business parks and commercial buildings
Chandler has a lot of commercial and light industrial space alongside its neighborhoods, and those buildings have their own problems. Metal buildings gain heat fast and can sweat when cool interior air meets warm metal. Flat commercial roofs take full sun all day.
For metal walls and roofs, closed cell spray foam is the usual pick. It is dense, it bonds to the panels, it delivers more R-value per inch than open cell, and at about two inches it slows moisture well enough to help with condensation. We schedule commercial work around business hours where we can.
Electric service in Chandler
Chandler is in Salt River Project territory. SRP customers in the city pay for a lot of cooling between late spring and early fall, and reducing heat gain through the roof and attic is one of the more direct ways to trim that load.
